World War II Aircraft

Bell P-59 “Airacomet” (America’s First Jet Fighter)

This is an exceptionally rare aircraft to see, as there are only five on display nationwide…

California:

P-59A on display at March Field Air Museum in Southern California. This aircraft resides at a publicly accessible museum…

P-59B on display at the Flight Test Museum located on Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. The museum is not accessible to the public…your tax dollars pay for it…but you can’t visit…go figure…

YP-59A being restored to flying condition in Chino, Southern California at the Planes of fame museum…I am unsure if you can view this aircraft

Nebraska:

P-59B on display at Harold Warp’s Pioneer Village in Minden

Ohio:

P-59B on display at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base museum near Dayton

Washington D.C.:

XP-59A in storage…unsure if you can see it…held by the National Air and Space Museum

Boeing B-17 “Flying Fortress” (WWII American Heavy Bomber)

While not exceptionally rare to see in museums and outdoor static displays, the B-17 “Flying Fortress” is one of the most iconic aircraft of the Second World War and worth seeing in person.

Mitsubishi J8M “Shūsui” (Japanese WWII Rocket Fighter)
