The Renaissance Faire is a peculiar event that sprouted from a high school history project in Southern California during the early 1960’s. It has grown into a sub-culture that spans across the United States, Canada and Europe. Some events are solid historically based events, others are hysterical spectacles of flesh and fantasy, clinging to a thread of Renaissance history…

The breast...nothing screams "Renaissance Faire" more than the display of cleavage and boobage...they're everywhere at Faire, and far be it from me to complain. This "faire tradition " is not going to end anytime soon...it makes the women at Faire feel very feminine, attractive and sexy...it's a big attention "getter". I'm good with that...however...for the sake of History, it is visually inaccurate. The breasts were never displayed so brazenly in Elizabethan times...
An Elizabethan Era woman would not have put the goods out, so to speak. You would see a small amount of breast, but only a bit. It seems there was some "anti-white meat" sentiment against the breasts...but a bit of bubbie, with copious cleavage, was acceptable...
